12/15/2023 0 Comments Watchme walk that walk blues![]() ![]() I tried to prepare them with what my filming plan would be, so we’re all agreeing to what we want to do and can do. On a schedule where they’re coming straight out of episode seven without taking any days off? It was asking a lot of them. ![]() Asking them to be off-book for eight to 12 pages per day so we could film sometimes three scenes from the same camera angle back-to-back-to-back…we really had to treat those pages almost as a piece of theater. For this episode, those three days in the bar were really by far the toughest. It’s a really fine line to tread, but that’s the genius of Regina King. What the fuck.” You want it to feel right that she’ll go there, but also not give away that she’s going to go there. ( Laughs.) It’s a very subtle journey she goes on in the present tense of the bar, from absolutely “dead no, go away,” to finally landing on, “Sure, I’ll have diner. When we first meet Angela, the last thing she wants is anyone’s company, or to be hit on, especially a weirdo in all blue wearing a blue mask. The chemistry was instant between Regina and Yahya. The thing for her is that we really wanted to capture the energy of someone 10 years earlier in their life. How did you, Yahya and Regina King work together to hone in on the growing love story between these characters in this scene?Īs with Yahya, I did meet with Regina to really go through the script. He took phenomenal care and effort with this character.Īs you mention, we’re not seeing Yahya’s face during the bar scenes. For me, it was about giving him very subtle notes at that point. I made sure to spend that time with him in advance, so that when we were on set, he was already where he wanted to be. We talked at length about who he was, where he was. We took the time to explore the different sounds and mannerisms, all of the subtle differences. We really had to do research to find that voice. It was one of the riskiest moves we made, having Yahya play that character with a different voice. One of the things I’m most proud of and really enjoyed in this series was the work with Yahya to find that character. We had multiple rehearsals, to find all of those nuances. What do you remember about your conversations with Yahya about how to turn the corner from Cal to Manhattan - and really, a couple of versions of Manhattan, as we see him in the bar scenes and then once he takes on Cal’s likeness? 'Watchmen' Star on That "Once in a Lifetime" Doctor Manhattan Twist How much of a challenge was it to refine the final look of Yahya’s Doctor Manhattan? ![]() As we were getting closer to filming episodes seven and eight, we did extensive camera tests on Yahya to find the physical look for him, once he was revealed as Manhattan. Nobody else knew, and we kept it that way for a really long time. When we were making the pilot, though, no one knew who Doctor Manhattan was, except for the writers, myself and a couple of very key crewmembers. I knew right away, from the get-go, who Cal actually was. Listen to more about Doctor Manhattan in the latest Series Regular: Watchmen podcast.Īt what point in development did you learn about the way Watchmen was handling the Doctor Manhattan story?īecause I was executive producing the whole thing, I was brought in at the beginning. Ahead, Kassell speaks with The Hollywood Reporter about what was involved in translating two dozen dialogue-driven pages set at a bar from test to screen, working with Abdul-Mateen II on developing a new look and sound for Doctor Manhattan, and why the episode feels like “one of the riskiest” moves of the series.

The traveling exhibit, which is called “Undesign the Redline,” looks at this discriminatory housing policy through the lens of history, segregation and discrimination. Redlining and its aftermath is the premise of a massive free exhibit currently on display at the Boston Architectural College, up through April 29. Redlining was followed by other detrimental efforts such as urban renewal, which cleared neighborhoods to construct housing projects and highways, in turn displacing communities of color, once again changing the urban geographical landscape. Yet, these policies destined redlined regions for disinvestment and concentrated poverty. Though eventually made illegal, the blatantly racist practice scarred black Americans for generations, blocking access to capital, a proper education, government financing for homeownership and all the basic tenets for wealth-building.Ĭreated under the New Deal, The Home Owners' Loan Corporation program was meant to ease the effects of the Great Depression. Tableau Desktop or Tableau Prep Builder contacts the ATR service to verify that Tableau Desktop or Tableau Prep Builder is authorized to run. Virtual desktop support and the ATR service without login-based license management The diagrams below show the communication process between the client and licensing components. As long as this communication is successful, Tableau runs without any impact to the user. The ATR service verifies the license or whether the user is a valid Creator user, and the length of the authorization window. When virtual desktop is configured to also use login-based license management, Tableau Cloud and Tableau Server work as a proxy to the ATR service to verify that Tableau is authorized to run with a valid Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server Creator user. When virtual desktop support is enabled, Tableau Desktop or Tableau Prep Builder periodically contacts a Tableau-hosted authorization-to-run (ATR) service to verify that Tableau is authorized to run, based on its license. Virtual Desktop manages the login-based license management activation or product key activation, which prevents the maximum activation error from occurring when configured with the correct activation duration. Using virtual desktop support with frequently recycled VMs or regularly reimaged computers means that the VM is returned and the activation is added back to login-based license management for a future activation request. Without virtual desktop support, an activated Tableau license or login-based license management license lease remains in use until the license term expires or the license is deactivated, causing a maximum activation error. If you are still using product keys, Tableau Desktop clients must periodically connect to the Internet to communicate with the hosted license service. Tableau must communicate with Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud for login-based license management. This means that you do not need to manually refresh or deactivate the login-based license management lease or any product key. My personal take: I did receive a noticeable speed boost by allowing Speedify to use two connections to the internet: my home office’s wifi plus my tethered iPhone. I achieved similar speed gains when connecting to Speedify’s servers on other continents, though the overall speed was slower due to the servers being further away. In this scenario, ‘true positive’ denotes subjects with an actual positive outcome who were correctly given a positive assignment (i.e., PSA density test-positive, biopsy-positive for prostate cancer). Thus, there exist four basic combinations of ‘assignment status’ (i.e., cancer status according to PSA density) and ‘actual outcome’ (i.e., cancer status according to gold standard prostate biopsy) by which all 2162 subjects may be categorized ( Table 1). After excluding subjects with a PSA outside of the prespecified range (10 ng/mL), or with missing data, a total of 2162 men were included in the final study cohort.įor simplicity, we will assume that prostate biopsy results (‘gold standard’) correctly determined the true disease status (i.e., presence versus absence of clinically significant prostate cancer) in all cases. Only first available biopsy results were included from men with repeat biopsies. PSA was measured prior to biopsy, and prostate volume was determined on transrectal ultrasound at the time of biopsy. The authors obtained institutional review board approval to retrospectively review data collected on 4109 men who underwent transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy at their institution from January 2002 through May 2017. sought to determine the diagnostic utility of PSA density (i.e., an ‘alternative test’) in detecting clinically significant prostate cancer in men with elevated PSA who underwent prostate biopsy. In a recent study published in the Journal of Urology, Aminsharifi et al. Accordingly, consideration of PSA density is increasingly favored over PSA alone for assessing prostate cancer risk. Unlike the PSA test itself, PSA density accounts for the fact that men with larger prostates generally have higher levels of PSA under normal baseline physiologic conditions (i.e., in the absence of prostate cancer). A newer, related parameter, PSA density, is computed as the serum PSA level (in ng/mL) divided by the volume of the prostate gland (in cubic centimeters (cc)). The PSA test measures the level of PSA in a man’s blood and is widely used to screen for prostate cancer. Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein produced by cells of the prostate gland. We will also use these data in subsequent sections of this article to explore the concepts of positive predictive value and negative predictive value. We will approach sensitivity and specificity using a recent real-world example from the medical literature. ![]() Sensitivity and specificity are the two statistical measures most commonly used to assess the performance of an alternative test against the gold standard. This article will further detail the concepts of sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values using a recent real-world example from the medical literature. Sensitivity and specificity are inversely related, wherein one increases as the other decreases, but are generally considered stable for a given test, whereas positive and negative predictive values do inherently vary with pre-test probability (e.g., changes in population disease prevalence). Negative predictive value reflects the proportion of subjects with a negative test result who truly do not have the outcome of interest. Positive predictive value reflects the proportion of subjects with a positive test result who truly have the outcome of interest. Specificity, which denotes the proportion of subjects correctly given a negative assignment out of all subjects who are actually negative for the outcome, indicates how well a test can classify subjects who truly do not have the outcome of interest. ![]() Sensitivity, which denotes the proportion of subjects correctly given a positive assignment out of all subjects who are actually positive for the outcome, indicates how well a test can classify subjects who truly have the outcome of interest. 12/15/2023 0 Comments Tweetdeck desktop for macTweetDeck alike features include the capability to monitor multiple feeds side-by-side in a similar fashion, create custom user lists, and post from multiple accounts while the application keeps track of which ones are which to keep duplicates at bay. If you watch the Deathlog addon, you quickly get a sense that The Barrens is a dangerous place. I had done most of the quests and had met at least one of the local named celebrities. Meanwhile, Hurmoo, my tauren druid, was about wrapping things up in the starting zone that is Mulgore. There will be a blog post about this plan later should we end up deciding we have had enough of starting over from scratch. Potshot’s plan is a set of rules for post Hardcore play to give a scoring system that puts a little of the edge into dying, but which would not require an ongoing need to start from scratch. (Or if you don’t want to do the starter area yet again.) When you die in Hardcore you get a free… if somewhat convoluted… way to transfer your character to a normal vanilla WoW Classic server if you’re invested and want to carry on with that character. The shock and realization that every death was going to lead not just to a feeling of loss, but also, and more importantly, a need to replay the same content yet again, led Potshot to formulate a possible alternative plan. This led to a re-order and restart of the rest of the group so that when I arrived back from Hawaii and hit level 13 I was actually ahead of the curve rather than being behind. However, I really shouldn’t have worried too much about being behind as Ula’s level 14 hunter Moolaloo ended up taking the terminal swim in an oasis pool in The Barrens while I was away. But at level 11 I built up enough to burst ahead two levels pretty quickly. I had forgotten that you don’t start to accumulate it until you hit level 8 or so. I was a little worried about the whole rested xp thing at first because I noticed early on that I wasn’t accumulating any. I left having just hit level 11 and was able to very quickly jump to level 13 in an evening of focused effort. A week away gave me a full level of blue bar. This was mitigated somewhat by rested experience. Being away for a week seemed like it was going to set me way back with the group. I have been the least diligent of the three of us in playing Hardcore as I have a mild desire to get another character to level 80 in Wrath Classic.
